Find Kindergarten Activities For Children That Are Interesting and Fun
Raising a kindergarten child is not just about sending them off to school and hoping that the school system works. Parents need to take an active roll with their child’s education and be willing to back up the kindergarten teacher with extra learning at home when school is out. And this is why it is imperative that parents find kindergarten activities for children that will help them continue to learn an extra hour every day.
The kindergarten activities do not need to be complex. In fact, they should be tailored to your child’s interest in order to help you keep them on task, learning and having fun. So do not be afraid to find kindergarten activities for children that are based off your child’s favorite games.
An example that I have used when I had a kindergarten child was my oldest son who is now 15. I was contacted by his kindergarten teacher and was told that he was falling behind in letter recognition and she wanted to know if I could give an hour a day at home helping him work on his letters. So trying to be a good parent, I of course agreed.
My son is the biggest baseball fan of our local team, the cardinals. Just like his old man. So I decided that the best way to get my son to learn his letters was to try to find a way to tie the two together. So I got creative and developed a game that can be played at the table using a hand man baseball diamond and flash cards with letters, numbers, and pictures on them.
At first I keep the game simple and allow him to try an hit singles by naming the letter of the flash card that I would put in front of him. A correct answer would allow his marker to go to first. And we would continue this until he got 3 wrong answers, or strike outs. As he got better I would add in cards with words and pictures that were more difficult and give him the option to go for a single, double, triple or home run.
Two months later I get a note from his teacher saying that not only has you caught up with the class, but that he was ahead of the class and that she wanted to know what I was doing to get him excited about learning. I even continued using this method of learning for my oldest all the way through sixth grade. So my method worked for my son. What does your child like to do? Be creative and tie in the courses with what they have a passion for.
My hope is that every parent is able to find kindergarten activities for children that encourage fun learning.
